Successful Candidate's Forum Print E-mail

On Friday the 13th, the Council of Fort Lauderdale Civic Associations hosted a Candidate's Forum and provided the public with an opportunity to meet the candidates and find out about them. With over 300 people, standing room only, a packed house got the chance to hear from the serious condidates for office.  The topics were varied and pointed and addressed many of the concerns and questions raised by members of the council and their neighborhoods.  Two candidates confirmed attendance on two occassions and did not appear to participate or provide any explanation or notice.  They were Christopher Peer for Mayor and
Kelvin Haynes for District III Commissioner.  Christopher Pollock, President of the Greater Chamber of Commerce, acted as the moderator and kept the candidates on subject and to the point.  He did a great job and will continue to be a moderator for the Council at our next Candidate event.

Many thanks go to Cindy Stoddart and the Comcast technical crew for recording the event for repeat performances and to Larry Fuller, Assistant City Clerk, for his generous help in coordinating the event and its recording.  Special thanks go to Betty Shelley, Committee Chair and her committee of Bunney Brenneman, Jan Idelman, Richard Mancuso, David Marshall, Reid Morgan, and Marilyn Markus for their generous donation of time. It takes a lot time and help to host a successful event and we definitely consider this a great success!

Repeats of this meeting may be seen on the City channel at the following times:

Saturday 1/21, 1/28. 2/4 and 2/11 at 3:00 pm
