BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Monday August 28, 2006, 5:30 PM
8th Floor Conference Room – City Hall
There was no Board Meeting in July.
CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order by President Genia Ellis at 5:41 PM.  .  
ROLL CALL:  Recording Secretary Bunney Brenneman recorded the roll of Officers and Directors with those present as: President Genia Ellis, 1st Vice President Reid Morgan, 2nd Vice President Elizabeth Hays Recording Secretary Bunney Brenneman, Corresponding Secretary David Marshall (5:48), and District I Representative Betty Shelley.  Excused were: Treasurer Ed Coyle Barranco, District IV Representative Bill Nielsen and Chairman of Committees Richard Mancuso.   Absent were District II Representative Jan Idelman and District III Representative Audley Ebanks. A quorum was present.
REVIEW & APPROVAL OF JUNE 26, 2006 MEETING MINUTES:  Minutes were approved as presented and on the web site. (Attachment A). 
TREASURER’S REPORT:   Treasurer Ed Barranco submitted his report as of July 31, 2006 with a combined total of balance of $7,726.39 which was accepted as presented and will be held for audit. (Attachment B)   
NEW BUSINESS: 
1. Dues – Update by District Representatives – Betty Shelley was the only district representative present. 
2. September Meeting – Presentation by Joy Ridell from the State of Florida on pedestrian safety.
3. Robert’s Rules Seminar /Workshop – Scheduled for Saturday October 21, 2006 from 8:00 AM to Noon, 8th floor City Hall (Attachment C), President Ellis requested that those Board members who have attended previously not take up one of the only 40 spots available; however Board members may still attend.
4. Upcoming Subjects for Presentation – Newsletters for October: there will be several presenters including Andy Ziffer, Steve Kelley, and Betty Shelley.  All associations are requested to please bring newsletters to the October General Meeting. For the November General Meeting, it was suggested that Bylaws be the subject. 
5. Council position – budget, code and crime – Input is still being received.
6. Report to the Commission – BY GENERAL CONSENSUS it will be held off until after the 1st of the year.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Florida Neighborhood Conference – Announced deadline for advance registration is September 1, 2006 with Jeri Pryor having previously  announced the following schedule for October 5-7: Thursday 3:00-6:00 PM; Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; and Saturday 8:00 AM-11:15 AM.
.2. Robert’s Rules Seminar/Workshop -  Already covered under New Business as Item 3 (Attachment C).  
3.  Timely Posting  – President Ellis again reiterated that it is necessary to have timely posting of agendas, minutes, committee meetings and announcements to the web site.    
COMMITTEE REPORTS –  In the absence of Chairman of Committees Richard Mancuso, those committee chairs present indicated that they did not have any reports .   :
FOR THE GOOD OF THE COMMUNITY:
• Dave Marshall brought up townhouses and BY GENERAL CONSENSUS it was agreed that we support the position of the neighborhood.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: 
• President Ellis announced the next CVC project for September 23, 2006 , 8:00 AM to Noon, at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex (aka International Swimming Hall of Fame)  with flyer (Attachment  D) needed for parking. 
ADJOURNED:  The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM.
