Education Advisory Board Report
Once again there was not a quorum so various business decisions could not be transacted Members will be contacted before the next meeting to at least call if they are not to be present.

School Board members Dinnen & Williams will meet with the Mayor to discuss the Board's plans for our City schools.

A study is be done to discuss truancy which is a problem in some of the Ft. Lauderdale schools especially Middle schools. There needs to be an alternative to JIF for students do not take this seriously and it is very often overcrowded. If there are further problems then students are suspended from school which puts them back on the streets.

Co-Chair Dr. Pam Brown gave the presentation she will give at the Best Practices Showcase at Piper High School . Commissioners and City staff have been invited.

I attended this Showcase on Jan.31st. The school has a very impressive group of ROTC students who were directing traffic and helping to set up the presentations. The Culinary class had prepared and served refreshments.

Various cities who have an EAB gave presentations on their accomplishments. Ft. Lauderdale had an excellent presentation with handouts and pictures.  Dr. Pam Brown showed the power point presentation she had given at the meeting. This was well received. Those present were Leslie Carhart , Dr. Hays, Lu Deaner and Commissioner Christine Teel .
