NCIP COMMITTEE REPORT Annually, the Council of Fort Lauderdale Civic Associations may partner with other public or private entities to bring forward an application for matching grant funding utilizing points earned during the preceding year through CVC projects or donated from its member associations. The first of those projects was the collaborative effort between the Navy League and the Council in providing for the installation of the Lone Sailor Monument on the Riverwalk. This application was submitted during the 2006/2007 cycle, was awarded and installed at a value of 15,000 points donated by the Council and its members. All applications and constructions are required to meet city criteria. This application was reported and supported to the Downtown Civic Association as this construction is within the boundaries of that association. August 2006 The second proposed project is for the permanent road closure on SW 11th to ensure added protection for the school children having to cross the street to attend classes on their campus. The application is being submitted during the 2007/2008 cycle for review and possible acceptance at a value of 16,000 points donated by the Council and its members. All applications and constructions are required to meet city criteria.
