Board Meeting Minutes
8TH FLOOR Commission Chamber
CALL TO ORDER by President Genia Ellis at 5:30 PM.
ROLL CALL BY President, all Board members present except for Tom Welch.
MEETING MINUTES of June 25, 2007 were moved and accepted as submitted (Attachment A).
TREASURER’S REPORT was remained as submitted at the September 11, 2007 General Meeting where it was moved and accepted as presented. Treasurer Ron Centamore advised there was an additional membership received from Flagler Village. The Chair raised the issued of the CD which would be maturing on October 8th. By a vote of the Board, it was approved that the CD be rolled over for investment in the amount of $5000 and the earned interest would be added to the operating checking account.
ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUEST INTRODUCTIONS
NEW BUSINESS:
1. October General Meeting will have Broward General Hospital, Lisa Davis, Community Outreach Official come and present talk about the partnership between the Hospital District and the Community.
2. Neighborhood Services will be on November 13, 2007 from 6-8pm. A food budget has been set at $500 and Tom Welch is recruiting volunteers to assist. Volunteers are also needed to set up sign in tables, etc. Volunteers will need to be on site by 5:00 PM. Board Members are asked to wear their Council shirts.
3. The Middle River Representative has changed due to their election results and there will need to be an election by the Council members to replace the District 2 rep at the October meeting.
4. The 2007 Christmas party will be presented to the General Membership to decide to have a regular meeting or a party. It was found that the budget does contain an item set at $500.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. 1 The Ad Hoc Code Reform Steering Committee will be meeting with City staff Friday (9/28/07) at 3pm to be updated on the presentation for Commission on October 2nd. In addition, the discussion will center around the interface with the Planning Department and it’s staff change and how to keep the momentum of the work approved for review and incorporation by the Commission. Representing the committee will be Richard Mancuso, Courtney Crush and Gus Carbonnel and representing the Council will be Genia Duncan Ellis.
2. Membership Update list is needed by the October meeting showing members, representatives and alternates.
3. Crime and Public safety Committee met on September 19th. An election of a new chair and vice chair will be held at the upcoming October meeting. Dr Hays will have the meeting announcement at the October General meeting.
FOR THE GOOD OF THE COMMUNITY
1. The plaques for Sarah Horn and Audely Banks are in place and short remembrance ceremony will be held at Civic People’s Park on October 27th at 9:00 AM. All Council members and members of the family are encouraged to attend.
2. The next CVC project is set for October 13th at Bass Park to finish what was started last month. Painting or the pool building and additional landscaping is anticipated.
3. Imperial Point will have a Harvest Festival at Imperial point Hospital at the Dottie Mancinni Park on October 13th from noon to 3pm. The public is invited.
4. South Middle River will host their home and garden tour on October 13th, 2007. Contact Jo Ann Smith for more information.
