GENERAL MEETING Minutes

CALL TO ORDER by First Vice President, Dr. Elizabeth Hays at 7:30 PM followed by the
PLEDGE of ALLEGIANCE.
ROLL CALL BY District I Representative, Betty Shelley with 19 present, indicating a quorum of members present. (Attachment A – Agenda) (Sign In Sheet included (Attachment B)
MEETING MINUTES of September 11, 2007 moved by Dave Marshall and accepted as submitted (Attachment C).
TREASURER’S REPORT was provided by Treasurer, Ron Centamore and it was moved by Dave Marshall and accepted. (Attachment D)
ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUEST INTRODUCTIONS
UPDATE:
Lisa Davis - Community Outreach - Broward General Hospital announced that North Broward Hospital District has changed their name to Broward Health. This is in response to South Broward Hospital changing its name to Memorial Hospitals. Broward Health also does really serve all of Broward, as they do not turn anyone away just because they don’t live in the taxing boundaries. She went on to explain the many services they provide at all their facilities. She said that she, as well as medical doctors, would be willing to come to any Civic Associations to give presentations.
She explained that they have great meeting facilities and we were welcome to come and have a meeting there. Someone asked if we could have our Christmas Social there and she said certainly and maybe the hospital could host the affair. She said she would contact Genia with this info.
Ad Hoc Code Reform Committee – Richard Mancuso gave a brief description of the latest series of meeting. With the loss of the Planning Director, the Committee has met with Greg Brewton, acting Planning Director and Kathleen Gunn and started to identify certain “Fast Track” items that may be readily achievable in 6 months. Richard feels they are making progress.
New Business:
1. Christmas party - A discussion and vote was taken for the location of the party. It was decided if the Hospital was available we would go there. Food will be determined by BOD.
2. Goal Setting – The January 2008 meeting is being set aside to address the future goals to be considered for the Council. All Associations are invited to bring their suggestions and ideas.
3. Neighborhood Services Night - November 13, 2007 Members are encouraged to invite everyone to come and visit with all the various departments. Volunteers are needed from the Council to assist with set up and refreshments and they need to be at City Hall by 4:30 PM.
4. District II Representative - Election - Gabriel Ocasio-Davila of Poinsettia Heights was elected to the position and accepted.
5. Crime Committee - will be seeking a new Chair at the upcoming meeting scheduled for October 17th at 5:30, Wednesday in City Hall Cafeteria.
6. CVC - will host an event at Bass Park on October 13, 2007, at 8:00 AM to finish what was started in AUGUST.
For the good of the Community:
1. South Middle River announced on October 13th from 8am to 3pm there will be Community Garden demonstration and sale. Meeting at 501 NW 17thSt. Contact Jo Ann Smith with questions.
2. Imperial Point Homeowners Association is having their Harvest Celebration at Imperial Point Hospital starting at 10:00 AM. The Community is invited. Contact Betty Shelley with questions.
