GENERAL MEETING Minutes
8TH FLOOR Commission Chamber
CALL TO ORDER by President, Genia Ellis at 7:30 PM followed by the
PLEDGE of ALLEGIANCE.
ROLL CALL BY First VP, Dr. Hayes and a quorum is present. (Attachment A) Sign In Sheets
MEETING MINUTES of March 18, 2008 moved and accepted as submitted unanimously. (Attachment B).
TREASURER’S REPORT was provided by Treasurer, Ron Centamore and it was moved and accepted unanimously. (Attachment C)
ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUEST INTRODUCTIONS
UPDATE:
1. Goal Setting Summary was distributed and the Top Five Items were selected by the members in order of priority as follows:
No. 1 – Crime/Police/ Public Safety – The Chair will be the Chair of the existing Crime Committee. It was Ron Centamore, but he resigned tonight due to other commitments.
No. 2 – Growth Policy/Standards – The Chair will be Richard Mancuso as part of the Ad Hoc Committee No.3 – Traffic/Parking/Transit – Reid Morgan accepted the Chair of this Committee.
No. 4 – Building Code/ Code Enforcement – Daniele Kleinrichert of Lake Ridge has volunteered as Chair.
No.5 – Parks – Doug Sterner of Progresso Village has volunteered for the Chair.
It was further requested by Genia that the chairs should pursue a joint chair and other committee members and start meeting as soon as possible.
Update:
1. Ad hoc Committee –Richard Mancuso gave a brief description of the latest series of meetings since the Planning Director quit. They had meetings with Greg Bruton and the RFP’s are back from consultants and the results should be available sometime late April. 2008. The City have selected the 4 finalists.
2. Sub Committee Report on the DRC Process and Customer Service improvements is being assembled and M. Mathias of the AIA is hoping to work successfully with the Building Department in many areas.
New Business:
1. The Citywide Yard Sale has reserved space at the City Parking Garage for May 3, 2008 from 8am- 2pm rain or shine. The event flyer is attached.
2. Hal Barnes discussed the date for the Florida Neighborhood Conference in Tallahassee on June 26-28, 2008. The City will sponsor 2 members from each neighborhood for the cost of the convention only. There are buses scheduled at a minimal cost. Food and hotel expenses are not covered.
Old Business:
1. Crime Committee will meet Wednesday April 16th, 2007 at City Hall’s 8th Floor Cafeteria to select a new Chair, as Ron Centamore has resigned.
2. The Chair of the Candidates’ Forum Betty Shelley announced the dates are set for the January 29th, 2009 and February 26th all at 7pm at the City Commission Chambers.
For the good of the Community:
The Fraternal Order Of Police will hold a its annual memorial service for Officers killed in the line of duty. The event will be at the Esplanade Park in front of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts at 2pm on Friday, May 2nd, 2008.
