PARKS GOAL COMMITTEE
November 2008 Report

 At the October 23rd meeting, Deb VanValkenburgh gave a presentation with handout on “How to get a park in your neighborhood”.  Copies will be available at November Council meeting.  As a consequence of discussion of progress made on three goals, everyone on committee was sent an email requesting them to send in recommendations by November 10th to Doug Sterner, Chair, with copy to all members.  Plans are to meet once more (Due to Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 13th was selected for final meeting before the holidays).  At this meeting, final report will be prepared for presentation to Council at January Council meeting.  Only a brief discussion of Parks and Rec Master Plan occurred.  Betty Hays indicated that discussion of the Master Plan will occur at next Parks and Rec meeting (Thursday, December 4th) and that all members of the committee should attend that meeting.  Betty Hays will try to get the Parks and Rec staff liaison to send her an electronic copy of the Parks and Rec meeting agenda so it can be circulated to committee and Council members.  It was suggested that committee revisit the Junior Ranger program.  Dennis Ulmer will research “Mothers in the park program.”
