What is The Council Of Ft Lauderdale Civic Associations?
hands1.gif
The Council of Fort Lauderdale Civic Associations is a strong organization made up of civic leaders in our city. Each bona-fide civic association sends one delegate to participate on the Council. Meetings are held monthly at City Hall every second Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Commission Conference Room. The Agenda addresses the issues and concerns of the Membership, as well as provides informative speakers on City and County "hot" topics.

Members participate in committees that tackle the pressing issues facing our city while ensuring a healthy future for all. Decisions are brought to the Mayor and City Commissioners with the hope of directing them in ways that ensure the needs, prosperity and health of all our member associations.

There are some 50 or more different civic associations and alliances in the city of Fort Lauderdale and it is the goal of the Council to represent, to the best of its ability, every one of them!
Community Involvement

Neighbors from all areas of the city join together throughout the year to work on citywide projects. As volunteers we avail ourselves to projects that impact us all.

We can build anything when we come together and express our strength through community. Working together allows us to accomplish almost any task!

What Is The Purpose Of The CFLCA?

The purpose of The Council of Ft. Lauderdale Civic Associations, Inc., is to focus on the issues relating to the preservation of the present and future welfare of the City of Ft. Lauderdale, its neighborhoods and citizens.

What Are The Goals Of The CFLCA?

To be proactive and reactive to those issues, communicate any recommendations to the proper authorities, strive to ever improve communication and create a stronger partnership between City Government and the neighborhoods to maximize mutual objectives.

Ensuring Good Health For Everyone, Now And In The Future The Council believes that our future health lies in the youth of Fort Lauderdale. It recognizes the enormous potential a healthy school system has on the future of our City.

A representative, from the Council, is appointed as a registered guest who sits with the Education Advisory Board. This representative ensures that our members’ issues pertaining to our schools are addressed. It also ensures that information flows to and from the Board of Education to the Council.

Developing Downtown

The Council understands the need for our city to grow and prosper. How we go about doing that is a very important issue to us. A Council member is appointed, by the Council, to act as the liaison between the Downtown Development Authority and the C.F.L.C.A. The liaison represents the Council at DDA meetings and is charged with funneling information back and forth between the two entities so that the civic concerns of our neighborhoods are always taken into consideration.

The Council insists on smart planning and encourages new and different ideas on how to continue to make Fort Lauderdale a healthy, thriving city. Check out the Downtown Development Authority for more information. As volunteers we enrich our lives by bridging neighbors, and neighborhoods, with projects that impact us all.

We can build anything when we come together and express our strength through community. Working together allows us to accomplish almost any task!
